Education for Human Flourishing, Global Responsibility, and the Common Good
Mission
The World University Consortium (WUC) is a global network of networks dedicated to advancing new forms of higher education capable of responding to the complex and interconnected challenges facing humanity.
WUC brings together universities, researchers, students, educators, governments, civil society, professional communities, industry, international organizations, and other stakeholders to identify emerging educational needs and to co-create, test, evaluate, and disseminate innovative, evidence-informed approaches to learning.
WUC promotes interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, intersectoral, and intercultural education that is student-centered, person-centered, and people-centered. Its aim is to strengthen critical thinking, systems understanding, integrated knowledge, creativity, ethical responsibility, life-centered and lifelong learning, global citizenship, and the capacities required for human security and flourishing and constructive action in conditions of rapid change and uncertainty.
Education, in WUC’s view, is a shared societal responsibility. Universities remain essential institutions for the creation and validation of knowledge, but the scale and complexity of contemporary challenges require deeper collaboration across sectors, cultures, disciplines, communities and societies.
